Easy homemade walnut mafroukeh, step by step

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups water

1 cup coarse semolina

1 cup walnuts, optional

1 small can sweetened condensed milk, or 1/3 cup

2 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon rose water or orange blossom water

A pinch of cardamom

A pinch of salt

Place 1 cup of the sugar over the heat and stir until it caramelizes.
Add 1 cup of water and keep stirring until the sugar dissolves well.
Add the butter, cardamom, and salt and stir, then add the semolina and stir, then add the sweetened condensed milk and ground walnuts and stir.
Add the rose water or orange blossom water and mix until you get a velvety-textured dough.
Leave it in a bowl to cool, then shape as desired, or spread it in a wide serving dish immediately after removing it from the heat and let it cool.
When it reaches room temperature, spread the cold cream on top and garnish with toasted or fried walnuts.
Serve the walnut mafroukeh with syrup.
