Easy homemade walnut mafroukeh, step by step
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup coarse semolina
- 1 cup walnuts, optional
- 1 small can sweetened condensed milk, or 1/3 cup
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon rose water or orange blossom water
- A pinch of cardamom
- A pinch of salt

Method
- Put 1 cup sugar on the stove and stir until it caramelizes
- Add 1 cup water and continue stirring until the sugar dissolves well
- Add the butter, cardamom, and salt and stir, then add the semolina and stir, then add the sweetened condensed milk and ground walnuts and mix
- Add rose water or orange blossom water and mix until you get a velvety-textured dough
- Leave it in a bowl to cool then shape as desired or spread it in a wide serving dish immediately after removing from the heat and let it cool
- When it reaches room temperature, spread cold cream on top and garnish with toasted or fried nuts
- Serve the walnut mafroukeh with syrup
