Ingredients:

1 kilo potatoes

1 chicken stock cube

2 onions

1 tablespoon seven-spice blend

1 teaspoon black pepper

bay leaves

cardamom pods

1/2 kilo ground meat

2 cups grated mozzarella cheese

1 tablespoon butter

2 tablespoons powdered milk

1 teaspoon ground red pepper, paprika

1 egg

Preparation:

Peel the potatoes, cut them into cubes, and place them in a deep pot with water to boil. Add bay leaves and a few cardamom pods to the potato cooking water. Let them boil until tender, then add a chicken stock cube.

Meanwhile, prepare the meat filling. Finely chop the onions and fry them in a little vegetable oil, then add the bay leaf and a tablespoon of curry spice, if desired, as well as the ground meat. Stir the meat and onions until cooked, then add the salt and one cup of grated mozzarella cheese. Turn off the heat and set the filling aside.

Remove the boiled potatoes from the water, mash them well, then add the butter, powdered milk, and paprika, and mix well.

Grease an oven dish with a little butter and start spreading the first layer of mashed potatoes in it. Place a bowl of cold milk beside you so you can wet your hand while spreading the mashed potato layer in the dish.

Spread the ground meat filling over the potatoes, then add a second layer of the mashed potato mixture and spread it well to cover the meat layer.

Beat the egg with a little liquid milk and a pinch of red pepper or paprika. Beat well, then brush it over the top of the potato dish.

Place the potato tray in the oven until it is almost cooked through. When the potato tray is nearly done, remove it and sprinkle the second cup of grated mozzarella cheese over the top.

Return the potato tray to the oven until fully cooked and the cheese melts.
