How to Make Potato Mafraka

Potato Mafraka — a traditional, popular dish loved by everyone

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 1/2 kg minced beef (finely ground)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large onion, cut into wedges
  • 1/2 tsp sweet baharat (mild spice mix)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • a pinch of cinnamon
  • 1/2 kg potatoes, cut into cubes

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Place the minced beef with the salt in a pan over the heat without oil and stir until the meat releases its moisture and dries a bit. You can add a little oil if you prefer.
  2. Add the onion wedges and cook until softened.
  3. Add the spices and stir to combine.
  4. Fry the potato cubes first in plenty of oil until they turn golden, then drain them. Add the fried potatoes directly to the pan with the meat and stir for about 5 minutes. Serve the potato mafraka hot.
