Homemade Turkish delight is an amazing, easy recipe you can make in different flavors to serve guests, treat the family, or enjoy with biscuits... a light and quick dessert!

Ingredients:

4 cups sugar

, 2 cups water

1 cup cornstarch

1 tablespoon rose water

1 tablespoon ground mastic

Flavors as desired:

lemon, rose, pomegranate, frez or strawberry

1/2 teaspoon citric acid

Method:

Place the sugar and water over heat until they start to boil
Add the cornstarch dissolved in 1 cup of water and stir continuously until the mixture thickens
When the sugar and water begin to boil, add the citric acid, or lemon salt, depending on the name used in your region
Make sure the mixture is cooked after about 25 minutes on the heat: how?
By placing a teaspoon of the mixture into a cup of water; if it stays together as one mass, that means the mixture has cooked long enough
Then add the ground mastic or any flavor you like, along with the rose water, and stir well, then turn off the heat
Food coloring is optional, depending on the color you want or the flavor you choose
Pour the mixture onto parchment paper lightly greased with a little vegetable oil
Sprinkle a generous amount of cornstarch mixed with powdered sugar over the Turkish delight mixture
Let the Turkish delight cool well at room temperature, then turn it out into another dish or onto parchment paper and sprinkle the sugar-and-starch mixture on the other side as well
Cut the Turkish delight into squares or as desired, coat it on all sides with the starch-and-sugar mixture, and serve as pieces on their own or as a delicious filling between two plain biscuits
