Homemade falafel is one of the most famous vegetarian sandwiches in the Arab world... who doesn’t love falafel!!
Ingredients
- Whole chickpeas soaked overnight with 1 tablespoon baking soda (bicarbonate)
- Fresh cilantro and parsley
- Green pepper
- Onion
- Garlic
- Salt
- Seven-spice blend (baharat)
- Ground cinnamon
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
Method
- After soaking the chickpeas, rinse them well and drain.
- Grind the chickpeas in a food processor with the herbs, salt, and spices.
- Grind them thoroughly until smooth and fine.
- Only 10 minutes before frying, add the baking powder and mix.Timers: 10 min
- Let the falafel mixture rest for 10 minutes, then shape the patties using a falafel scoop or hand mold and fry immediately in plenty of oil over medium heat.Timers: 10 min
- Fry the falafel patties until they are nicely browned.
