- 450 grams unsalted local butter
Method
- Place the butter in a tall-sided pot over medium heat
- When the butter melts, begin stirring with a wooden spoon for several minutes continuously
- When foam-like bubbles appear, lower the heat slightly and continue stirring on the stove for about 25 minutesTimers: 25 min
- You will notice the milk proteins beginning to separate from the butter and collecting on the sides of the pot
- Wait until the milk protein at the bottom of the pot turns brown in color
- Put a small piece of bread into the clarified butter pot; if it turns light blond, the ghee is clear and ready
- If the bread turns dark brown, that means milk residues remain, so let it simmer a little longer
- When the country ghee is ready, remove it from the heat and set it aside to cool for a few minutes
- . When the homemade ghee has cooled slightly, strain it through a cotton cloth into a jar or container to remove any remaining milk solids
- Store the homemade country ghee in a cool place or in the refrigerator; it can also be kept at room temperature
