How to Make Calzone

One of the most famous and delicious Italian recipes! Calzone, or Italian chicken pies, is perfect for anyone who loves classic Italian pizza. Here is an easy, tried-and-tested homemade version.

Recipe story

Ingredients for the dough:

1 kilogram flour

1 1/2 tablespoons yeast

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon salt

1/4 cup vegetable oil

3 tablespoons powdered milk or 1/4 cup liquid milk, as available

Warm water for the dough

How to prepare the dough:

Put all the dry ingredients on top of the flour

and mix well, then add the oil and bring the dough together well

then add the water gradually and knead well until you have a smooth dough

Leave the dough to rise for about an hour, and after rising begin working

Divide the dough into balls as desired, then let them rest for 5 minutes and then start working

Ingredients for the filling:

1 kilogram chicken breast, cut into thin slices

1 green sweet pepper, chopped

Fresh or canned mushrooms, chopped

Chopped olives

2 yellow onions, cut into slices

Mozzarella cheese

How to prepare the filling:

Place the chicken breast over low heat and stir well until the chicken turns white

Add the onion, sweet pepper, and salt, and stir well until the vegetables wilt...

Add the mushrooms and olives, then add assorted seasonings to taste, such as pepper, mixed spice, and shawarma spice, and stir well

Let the filling cool, then start working... Fill the dough pieces and add the cheese, then close them in the shape shown in the accompanying pictures.

Then brush the top of the calzone with beaten egg yolk mixed with a small spoon of vinegar

Bake the calzone in a preheated oven at 180 degrees until cooked through and golden brown
