Recipe story

Asida dessert is one of the old, simple, and inexpensive sweets. Let's revive our memories and prepare asida the way our grandmothers used to make it :)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 100 g butter or ghee
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar, or more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
  • 1 tablespoon ghee to add before removing the asida from the heat

Method

  1. Place the ghee or butter on the heat to warm slightly
  2. Add the flour to the ghee or butter and stir so the flour absorbs the fat and its color changes slightly
  3. Begin adding the water gradually; the water should be cold so the flour doesn't clump, and continue stirring in a circular motion with a whisk
  4. Continue stirring until the mixture heats up and thickens
  5. Add the sugar, orange blossom water, and one tablespoon of ghee, and stir until the sugar and ghee dissolve
  6. Pour the asida and serve it hot or after it cools
