Homemade KFC-style chicken... a tasty recipe kids love — tastier and cleaner than restaurants
Ingredients
- Clean, washed, and drained chicken pieces
- Cardamom pods
- Salt
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon hot paprika or hot red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon baking soda (or bicarbonate)
- How to make crispy potatoes using the same KFC seasoning:
Method
- Place the chicken pieces with a pinch of salt and cardamom pods in a pot on the stove, cover, and leave for half an hour over medium heat
- After the time has passed, remove the pieces from the pot and put them in a deep bowl with the yogurt and salt, tossing the pieces in the yogurt
- In a wide bowl, mix the flour with paprika, garlic powder, turmeric, and baking soda, then add the mixture over the chicken pieces that have been dipped in yogurt
- After the flour mixture coats the chicken pieces on all sides, leave them to soak for one hour in the refrigerator
- After the time has passed, deep-fry the KFC-style chicken in plenty of oil at medium heat until browned and crispy
- Cut the potatoes into quarters, wash them well, and simmer them for seven minutes in boiling water with a pinch of salt
- Remove them from the water and let them cool completely
- When they are cool, repeat the same steps used for the chicken — dip them in yogurt first, then the flour mixture, then deep-fry in plenty of oil
