An easy, tried-and-true homemade recipe for donuts. Donuts are a high-calorie treat, especially since they’re fried in a lot of oil, so enjoy them in moderation.

- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 4 tablespoons softened butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar and drizzle or chocolate sauce for garnish, as desired
- Chocolate Sauce:
- 4 tablespoons heavy cream
- 3 Galaxy chocolate bars
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

- Chocolate sauce for donuts:
- Break Galaxy chocolate bars and place them in a microwave-safe deep bowl
- Microwave for about 1 minute until the chocolate fully melts, stirring occasionally (or place the bowl over simmering water to melt)

Method
- First, whisk the warm milk with sugar and yeast; stir well until the yeast begins to activate. The milk should be at a suitable temperature, not too cold or hot.
- Add the butter, eggs, and vanilla and whisk until the sugar dissolves.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour with baking powder and a pinch of salt
- Begin adding the flour mixture gradually to the milk-egg mixture and knead until all the flour is incorporated
- Knead for 5 minutes by hand or with a mixerTimers: 5 min
- Set aside to rise well for about an hour in a warm place
- Roll the dough to about 1 cm thick, not too thin, and cut into donut shapes with a small hole in the center

- Fry the donuts in hot oil until they are browned
- Decorate donuts as desired, with a drizzle of sugar, powdered sugar, or chocolate
- Add the cream and vanilla and mix until the sauce is smooth and thickened
