Fornoir cake — very delicious homemade cake

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 7 eggs
  • 210 g sugar
  • or
  • 1 cup + 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or 1 vanilla sachet
  • 190 g flour
  • 2 cups minus 1 teaspoon flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • Filling
  • Canned or fresh fruit cocktail, chopped small
  • 600 g whipping cream + 2 sachets powdered cream
  • Syrup (qatir) or pineapple juice to brush the cake layers

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Beat the eggs in a mixer with the vanilla, then gradually add the sugar and beat for about 10 minutes.
    Timers: 10 min
  2. When the mixture becomes thick and pale, sift the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa and baking powder) and fold them into the egg mixture gently with a spatula from bottom to top.
  3. Pour the Fornoir cake batter into a buttered and floured pan and bake at 160°C (320°F) for about 40 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean, depending on your oven.
    Timers: 40 min
  4. Let the cake cool completely before slicing horizontally into 3 layers.
  5. Prepare the cream meanwhile: whip the liquid cream with the powdered cream until set and set aside.
  6. When the cake is completely cool and cut, brush each layer with a little syrup or juice, spread some cream and distribute the fruit.
  7. Place the second layer on top and repeat the process.
  8. Decorate the top layer with cream and strawberries (or fruit of your choice).
  9. Chill the Fornoir cake long enough in the refrigerator so it firms up before serving.
