Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 2.5 kg peaches, pitted
- 1.5 kg sugar
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- First, wash the peaches and place them in a colander to drain off all the water.
- Cut each peach in half to remove the pits... and so divide each peach into two halves.
- Place the peaches in a bowl and sprinkle the sugar over them. Leave them to macerate for at least 4 hours until the peaches release their juice and the sugar dissolves.Timers: 240 min
- After the time has passed, put them in a pot over the heat and stir every so often. Skim off any foam that appears on the surface and discard it... or you can leave the foam if you want, as it will not affect the taste.
- Leave the peach jam over medium to high heat, stirring and skimming off the foam every so often... for about 1 hour.Timers: 60 min
- Pour the jam hot into glass jars and seal them immediately... this way it can be kept for a full year. After opening the jar, it should be stored in the refrigerator.
- Note: Peach jam does not need lemon acid because its taste already has a little acidity.
