Basbousa cut into squares — a reliable recipe that everyone loves
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 cups fine semolina (or cake flour)
- 1 can clotted cream (qeemar)
- Cold syrup

Method
- With a hand whisk or electric mixer.. beat the eggs with the vanilla and sugar.. beat well
- Add the oil, yogurt, coconut and baking powder and whisk them together
- Finally add the fine semolina and mix well
- Pour the basbousa mixture into a pan greased with butter evenly
- Empty the can of clotted cream into a plastic bag and cut a small opening in one corner so it becomes a piping bag.. pipe vertical lines...
- Put the basbousa on the middle rack and bake at 180°C for 25 minutes
- When the sides brown, brown the basbousa on top until the surface is golden
- Soak it with cold syrup then set aside to cool
- When it cools, decorate and serve
