Chocolate Spread for Sandwiches
An easy, economical chocolate spread that’s a healthy alternative to Nutella and other store-bought sandwich chocolates. A tried-and-true recipe kids will love!
A spreadable chocolate sauce for sandwiches... kids will definitely love it, and it’s a healthier alternative to store-bought products.
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 1/2 cup powdered milk
- 1/2 cup light cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee (Nescafé)
- Oil as needed
- Finely ground hazelnuts — optional to give the spread a Nutella-like flavor

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- In a blender, blend all ingredients except the oil until very smooth.
- With the blender running, add the oil gradually in a thin stream.
- When the mixture thickens and reaches the desired consistency — the same as ready-made sandwich chocolate spreads — stop adding oil.
