Ingredients
- 5 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup milk
- 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
- a pinch of salt
- vanilla
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 teaspoon saffron
- You can garnish the cardamom and saffron cake with toffee sauce, which is as follows:
- Toffee sauce: Put 1 cup sugar in a pan and leave it without stirring until it melts and begins to turn golden, then add cream and optionally some pouring cream and stir with a wooden spoon (do not use a metal spoon as it causes the mixture
Method
- Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt, and add the cardamom and saffron.
- Whisk the eggs, vanilla, sugar, oil, and milk, then gradually add the flour mixture while stirring (you can separate the egg whites and beat them separately, then fold them in at the last stage for a lighter cake).
- Grease the pan with oil and sprinkle with sesame, then pour in the cake batter and bake until cooked.
