Basbousa, or cream kanafeh, is one of the tastiest and easiest cream desserts. Try it and enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups coarse semolina
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup oil
- 1 can qimer cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- For soaking the basbousa:
- 2 tablespoons ghee + warm sugar syrup
Method
- Using an electric mixer, blend the coarse semolina with the eggs, sugar, oil, qimer cream, baking powder, and vanilla.
- Divide the mixture into two portions.
- Spread the first portion in a baking tray greased with butter, then place it in a preheated oven from the bottom only at 160°C until the edges just begin to turn golden.
- Add the prepared cream and spread it evenly over the batter.
- Spread the second portion of basbousa batter over the cream and smooth the top.
- Place it in a preheated oven from both top and bottom for about 5 minutes.Timers: 5 min
- Then turn off the bottom heat and brown it from the top.
- Remove from the oven and pour over the melted ghee and warm syrup.
- Serve the cream basbousa warm or cold.
