Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups flour
- 4 eggs
- A pinch of vanilla
- Syrup
- First, we start by preparing the dough:
Method
- Place the water with the two tablespoons of sugar and the quarter cup of oil over the heat until it comes to a boil.
- Turn off the heat and add the flour, stirring until the mixture comes together into one mass ... leave it to cool ... then add the eggs, one at a time.
- Whisk until the mixture absorbs all the eggs and becomes smooth like cream, adding half a teaspoon of vanilla and, if desired, a little lemon zest.
- Fry the Balah al-Sham pieces in hot oil after piping them into a cream bag (pastry bag)
- Pour the cold syrup over the pieces of Balah al-Sham immediately after frying while they are still hot. For garnish, sprinkle the Balah al-Sham pieces with powdered sugar and cinnamon
