A practical baked kofta and potatoes tray that everyone loves.
Ingredients
- ½ kg (500 g) finely minced beef
- A few parsley sprigs, finely chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- ½ tsp sweet baharat (mild mixed spice)
- ½ tsp seven-spice (sabʿa baharat)
- ½ tsp salt
- Green bell pepper, sliced
- Tomato(s), sliced
- Potato slices
- A few hot chili peppers (optional)
- Tomato sauce
- Hot water
Method
- Mix the minced beef, parsley, onion, salt and spices together well.
- Shape the kofta into flat round patties.
- Brush the oven tray with a little vegetable oil. Slice the green bell pepper and tomatoes into rounds.
- Place a slice of bell pepper, then a kofta patty, then a tomato slice on top.
- Par-fry the potato slices (half-cook) and arrange them to one side of the tray.
- Scatter the hot chili peppers over the tomatoes, dissolve the tomato sauce in hot water, adjust salt, and pour over the tray.
- Put the tray into a preheated oven on the middle rack at 200°C (392°F).
- Bake with both top and bottom heating elements on for about 30 minutes, until the kofta is cooked and the sauce has thickened.Timers: 30 min
