Spinach stew with meat chunks rather than minced meat — also delicious, distinctive, and more filling!!

Ingredients

  • 1 kg spinach, cleaned, washed, chopped, and drained
  • ½ kg meat, cut into small cubes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • tablespoons of vegetable oil or ghee
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 1 tsp ground sumac
  • ½ tsp hot red pepper (optional)

Method

  1. Put oil or ghee in a frying pan or large pot and add the meat pieces; stir briefly until the meat changes color.
  2. Add salt and pepper, stir, then leave the small meat pieces over low heat until they are cooked through.
  3. Add the onion and stir until it softens, then add the spinach, stirring until it wilts as well.
  4. Then sprinkle sumac, black pepper, and hot pepper, and adjust the salt.
  5. Cover the pot and let the spinach stew simmer until cooked.
  6. Serve it with fluffy rice with vermicelli.
