Beef shawarma with tartar sauce — an everyday recipe because it's very delicious

Ingredients

  • 1 kg very tender beef (thin-cut)
  • Vegetable oil
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • Shawarma spice mix
  • 2 large onions
  • Sweet bell pepper (any color: red, green, or yellow)
  • Tomato
  • Tartar (Tartour) sauce:
  • 1 cup tahini
  • Water
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt
  • 1 clove crushed garlic (optional)
  • How to make the tartar (Tartour) sauce:
  • This dish is especially tasty if served with Batoot flatbread

Method

  1. Slice the beef into thin strips and add vegetable oil, half a cup of balsamic vinegar, shawarma spices, and salt. You can leave it marinating for 10 hours in the mixture, or at least 2 hours.
    Timers: 600 min, 120 min
  2. The next day: slice the onions into long strips, do the same for the peppers, and slice the tomato. Add the vegetables on top of the marinated meat.
  3. Mix well and place the shawarma in a baking tray. Cover the tray with aluminum foil and preheat the oven to 200°C.
  4. Bake for only 40 minutes.
    Timers: 40 min
  5. Serve the beef shawarma with parsley and sumac onion salad and tartar sauce.

  7. Whisk the ingredients together. It's important to add the right amount of water to reach a medium-thin consistency, similar to ayran.
