Homemade Burger

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 1 kg finely ground (minced) beef
  • Salt
  • Pinch of pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp onion powder (optional)
  • Three types of bread from one dough

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Mix all ingredients well, then divide the minced meat into medium-size patties.
  2. Place each patty between two sheets of plastic or cling film and press with a plate if you don't have a burger press.
  3. Cook the patties in a wide frying pan, turning until done on both sides.
  4. Place the patties inside burger buns with tomato slices, shredded lettuce, cheese, pickled cucumber rings, mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard. Some prefer coleslaw or cabbage salad with mayonnaise—use whatever you like.
  5. Serve the burgers with French fries.
