Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- Tortillas
- 4 cups sifted flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- a pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup oil
- 2 tablespoons powdered milk
- 1 cup or more water, as needed
- Dough
- Mexicana meat
- 500 g coarsely ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon Mexicana seasoning
- a pinch of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 large onion, chopped or sliced
- 1 large sweet green pepper
- mayonnaise
- cheese suitable for Mexicana
- pickles for serving

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Mix all the ingredients except the water.
- Add the water gradually in batches and knead until you have a soft dough.
- Let it rest 10 minutes, then divide it into medium-sized balls.Timers: 10 min
- Roll the balls into circles.
- Heat a non-stick pan and cook each dough circle for a few minutes on both sides until done.
- Heat a pan on the stove, add oil and the ground beef, and stir until the meat loses its moisture.
- Add the onion, spices, sliced pepper and mushrooms, and cook until the ingredients are tender.
- Prepare Mexicana sandwiches: spread a little mayonnaise inside a tortilla, add some of the meat mixture, sprinkle cheese on top, add slices of pickles, and roll the tortilla.
- Serve the sandwiches immediately while they're hot.
- You can toast the sandwiches on a grill or sandwich press.
