Ingredients
- 3 cups whole wheat flour
- A pinch of salt
- 1 cup sugar (or more to taste)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup skim milk powder
- 1 tablespoon cake crumb (dqa al-kaak) or fine semolina
- 1/2 tablespoon ground anise
- Whole anise seeds to taste
- Nigella seeds (black seed) to taste
- Sesame for garnish
Method
- Mix the dry ingredients together, then begin adding water in batches and knead. You will need about 1/2 to 3/4 cup water depending on the flour type.
- When you have a firm dough, let it rest for about half an hour.
- After 30 minutes, shape the dough using the molds you prefer.Timers: 30 min
- Garnish the tops with sesame.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 150–180°C (300–350°F) depending on your oven strength for about 20 minutes.Timers: 20 min
- Serve the anise cookies once they have cooled.
