Green Fava Beans with Oil
Green fava beans in oil, a very delicious homemade recipe with cumin, coriander, and garlic! You won't find a tastier plate of green fava beans than this :) It is eaten with bread and served with vegetables such as radishes.
Green fava beans with oil .... one of the seasonal vegetarian recipes prepared during the green fava bean season... Some people like to freeze the beans to cook with rice when needed .. but our recipe here uses whole green fava beans
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 kilo fava beans, trimmed, cut, washed and drained
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried coriander
- 1 teaspoon hot pepper paste
- 5 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1/2 bunch fresh coriander, washed and chopped
- 1/4 cup olive oil
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- In a pot over the heat, add the vegetable oil and chopped onion and stir until softened
- Add the chopped, washed, and drained green fava beans, then the salt, and stir a little
- Add 1 cup of water and stir, then cover the pot, reduce the heat, and leave for about half an hour, stirring from time to time .. You can add an extra half cup of water if the water dries out and the beans are still hard
- When the beans are cooked ... add the cumin, coriander, hot pepper paste, crushed garlic, chopped coriander, and olive oil, and stir
- Cover the pot again for only five minutes, then remove the green fava beans from the heat
- Serve immediately or cold, and eat with bread
