How to Make Ketchup at Home
How to make ketchup at home with a tried-and-tested homemade recipe, because making everything at home has become a health and financial necessity, and of course it tastes better and is cleaner! We recommend trying it.

- 1.5 kilos red tomatoes
- 1/2 cup brown sugar or white sugar
- 1 1/2 cups vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon hot chili pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon tomato paste
- 1 cup water
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Wash the tomatoes well, cut each into 6 pieces, and put them in a pot on the stove with water.
- Cover the tomato pot and leave it over medium heat until it boils.
- After the tomatoes boil, lift the lid and stir, then cover again and leave for 15 minutes.Timers: 15 min
- After the required time, strain the tomatoes well to remove seeds and skins and put them back in the pot on the stove with the vinegar, sugar, and salt.
- Let the ketchup mixture simmer until the tomatoes have reduced significantly, then add a tablespoon of tomato paste and stir the mixture.
- Place a spoonful of the ketchup mixture on a plate as a taste test.
- Let the small amount of ketchup we set aside cool, then lift the plate slightly and tilt it a little.
- If we notice the thin ketchup runs off quickly, return the pot to the heat for a few minutes; if the ketchup holds and does not move, it means the ketchup has succeeded.
- Pour the ketchup into a bottle, close it tightly, and let it cool to room temperature.
- Sterilize the bottle by placing it in the sun or in the oven at 150°C for 15 minutes before use.Timers: 15 min
- The quantity of ketchup you will get equals: 700 grams.
