  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup coarse semolina
  • 1 cup walnuts, optional
  • 1 small can sweetened condensed milk, or 1/3 cup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon rose water or orange blossom water
  • A pinch of cardamom
  • A pinch of salt

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Put 1 cup sugar on the stove and stir until it caramelizes
  2. Add 1 cup water and continue stirring until the sugar dissolves well
  3. Add the butter, cardamom, and salt and stir, then add the semolina and stir, then add the sweetened condensed milk and ground walnuts and mix
  4. Add rose water or orange blossom water and mix until you get a velvety-textured dough
  5. Leave it in a bowl to cool then shape as desired or spread it in a wide serving dish immediately after removing from the heat and let it cool
  6. When it reaches room temperature, spread cold cream on top and garnish with toasted or fried nuts
  7. Serve the walnut mafroukeh with syrup
