How to Make Naked Tres Leches Cake

Naked cake... 3 layers of light cake soaked with syrup and filled with cream and strawberries... This cake is very delicious, and what makes it special is that it tastes like a bakery cake even though it is simply decorated.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks butter or 226 g
  • 1 cup liquid milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Syrup or cake soaking liquid
  • 3/4 cup liquid milk
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk or any milk of choice
  • Cream
  • Whipping cream for desserts or buttercream, as desired
  • 1 cup powdered sugar if the cream is not sweet enough
  • Filling
  • Strawberries, canned or fresh

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Sift the sugar and the flour into a separate bowl.
  2. In another bowl, beat the butter and add the sugar in batches; continue beating for about 10 minutes until the sugar dissolves.
    Timers: 10 min
  3. Separate the egg yolks from the whites, then begin adding the yolks gradually while beating.
  4. Add the vanilla and continue beating.
  5. Add the flour and milk in batches and beat.
  6. In another bowl, whip the egg whites until thick, then fold them into the first mixture with a spoon or spatula without beating.
  7. Grease the cake pan with butter and dust it lightly with flour, then pour the batter into it.
  8. Place the pan in the oven at 180°C for 45 to 50 minutes until cooked.

  9. Meanwhile, prepare the cream for the filling: whip the cream, and add 1 cup of powdered sugar if it is not sweet enough.
  10. Chill the whipped cream in the refrigerator until cool before using.
  11. Let the cake cool completely before decorating, and meanwhile prepare the syrup by mixing all the syrup ingredients together well.
  12. Slice the cake horizontally into 3 equal layers.
  13. Syrup the first layer with 1/2 cup of syrup, then spread a layer of cream and distribute some strawberries.
  14. Place the second layer over the decorated first layer and repeat the same steps until the cake is fully filled and decorated.
  15. Chill the naked cake in the refrigerator for several hours, preferably until the next day before serving.
