Tea biscuits (tea cakes) — you can make them at home now with this clear, easy method.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 12 tablespoons (3/4 cup) softened butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. In a bowl, put the flour, baking powder and salt and mix well
  2. In another bowl, put the butter and beat it with an electric mixer for two minutes..
  3. Add the sugar to the butter while continuing to beat at a slow speed for two minutes
  4. Add the egg and vanilla to the butter-sugar mixture and beat for one minute
  5. Add the flour mixture and mix.. then add the milk slowly and knead until you get a soft, cohesive dough
  6. Divide the dough into two portions and wrap each separately in plastic wrap.. place them in the fridge to rest for two hours
  7. After the time has passed.. remove the dough from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 5 minutes

  8. Roll each portion of dough between two sheets of parchment.. roll it with a rolling pin and cut the dough using special cutters to form the biscuits or tea cakes
  9. Arrange the pieces on parchment paper on a baking tray
  10. Place the tray in the refrigerator for 30 minutes
    Timers: 30 min
  11. Preheat the oven on high.. and put the tray into the preheated oven for 15 minutes with monitoring

  12. Let the biscuits cool at room temperature before serving
