Homemade Ka'ak with Sesame

A very delicious and easy recipe for ka'ak coated with sesame and nigella seeds. Try it at home and there will be no need to buy ready-made ka'ak anymore.

Ingredients

  • 3 and a half cups white flour
  • 1 and a half cups farina flour
  • Three-quarters cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon mahlab
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon finely ground anise
  • A pinch of nigella seeds
  • Sesame seeds
  • 2 eggs
  • A pinch of vanilla
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 and a half cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Mix the dry ingredients and set aside...
  2. Beat the eggs with the vanilla, salt, and sugar
  3. Add the oil and milk to the eggs and beat well.
  4. Add the dry ingredients mixture over the egg mixture and stir well, then set aside to rise and rest for about an hour.
  5. After the required time, shape the dough as desired into fingers or rings. Dip them in the sesame and nigella seed mixture.
  6. If the dough feels sticky and a bit runny, you can add more flour.
  7. Place the ka'ak tray in a preheated oven until the ka'ak turns golden. Bake from the bottom first, then from the top. If your oven heats from both sides, a shorter baking time will be enough.
