Cheese Qatayef (Qatayef with Cheese)
Qatayef is very popular—delicious, light, and easy to prepare. Here are the cheese-filled Qatayef baked in butter in the oven. Choose your preferred filling!
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup semolina
- 2 1/2 cups lukewarm water or 3 cups as needed
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons powdered milk
- 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate
- Syrup for serving

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Mix all ingredients in a blender, then fry the qatayef as small or medium rounds in a hot pan until bubbles appear and the bottoms color.
- Stuff the qatayef once they cool slightly with sliced cheese and sweeten overnight, then drain well. Brush a baking sheet with butter, place the qatayef on the sheet, and top each with a very small piece of butter... Bake until browned.
- Sprinkle syrup on the cheese-filled qatayef when serving.
