Ingredients:

2 cups flour

1/2 cup semolina

2 1/2 cups lukewarm water or 3 cups as needed

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon yeast

2 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons powdered milk

1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate

Syrup for serving

Preparation:

Mix all ingredients in a blender, then fry the qatayef as small or medium rounds in a hot pan until bubbles appear and the bottoms color.

Stuff the qatayef once they cool slightly with sliced cheese and sweeten overnight, then drain well. Brush a baking sheet with butter, place the qatayef on the sheet, and top each with a very small piece of butter... Bake until browned.

Sprinkle syrup on the cheese-filled qatayef when serving.
