Hala al-Qaryoush (Moroccan Sesame Pastries)

Ingredients

- Crust
- 1 kilogram flour
- Egg
- 1/2 kilogram butter
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup orange blossom water
- 1/2 tablespoon yeast
- Toasted sesame seeds for garnish
Method

- Place the flour with the egg, a pinch of salt, and the butter, and gently rub with your fingertips until the flour absorbs the butter and egg.
- Add the yeast and then the orange blossom water, and knead well until you obtain a cohesive dough. Let the qaryoush dough rest for 15 minutes.Timers: 15 min
- Roll out the dough on a clean surface and shape as desired using molds or into small circles.
- Fry the qaryoush in plenty of hot oil... when they cool, soak them in sugar syrup and garnish with toasted sesame seeds..
