Feijão — a type of black bean; one of the tastiest and most nourishing Brazilian stews.
Ingredients
- 1/2 kg feijão (black beans)
- 200 g beef, cut into pieces suitable for cooking
- 1 dry (or medium) onion
- 3 garlic cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- Salt, to taste
- Accompanying salad:
- White cabbage
- Lemon juice (or to taste)
- Olive oil
- Toasted bread and white rice, for serving
- Salad preparation:
- Finely shred the cabbage and dress with lemon juice, olive oil and salt to taste; toss to combine.

Method
- Wash the feijão beans and soak them in water for 6 hours.Timers: 360 min
- After soaking, put the beans in a pot, cover them with fresh water and cook until tender.
- Boil the meat pieces with cinnamon sticks, salt and an onion in a pressure cooker for 20 minutes (you can boil them in a regular pot, which will of course take longer).Timers: 20 min
- After the meat and beans are cooked separately, combine them with a little of the bean cooking liquid in a suitable serving dish.
- In a pan, fry the minced garlic in oil and pour it over them.
- Serve the Brazilian feijão with toasted bread, cabbage salad and white rice.
- Finely chop the cabbage and season it with lemon juice, olive oil and salt to taste, then mix.
