- 2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 egg
- Vanilla
- 1 teaspoon orange blossom water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon anise seeds
- Date filling
- 1 cup pitted dates, finely chopped with a knife
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon orange blossom water or vanilla
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Mix the flour with the butter and anise and rub them well by hand.
- Add the egg and vanilla, then add the baking powder, sugar, orange blossom water and milk gradually; knead until you have a dough, and if it is soft you can add more flour. Cover the dough and let it rest for half an hour.
- After the time has passed, roll out the dough and cut it into lengthwise strips (as shown in the accompanying photos).
- Place a little date filling lengthwise on the dough, roll it and cut to the desired size. Brush the date fingers with beaten egg yolk mixed with a pinch of vanilla and sprinkle a little sesame on them. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C until they brown.
- Mix them together and freeze for about an hour until firm
