Ingredients

  • Half a kilo shelled green fava beans
  • 2 dried onions
  • Olive oil
  • 1 cup basmati rice or long-grain rice
  • 2 cups water for each cup of rice
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried vegetable seasoning
  • Salt to taste

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Finely chop the onion and sauté it in olive oil until softened
  2. Add the shelled green fava beans, after washing them of course, and stir, then lower the heat
  3. Stir the green fava beans with the sautéed onions until the beans begin to soften
  4. Add the hot water, cover the pot, and let the water come to a boil over medium heat for enough time until the fava beans are well cooked
  5. Add the rice, salt, and spices, stir, and let the water boil
  6. When the water level reaches the rice, lower the heat and cover the pot for about half an hour
  7. Serve the rice with fava beans hot with yogurt or salad
  8. Note.. Adding minced meat to this recipe is optional. Some people prepare it with minced meat
