Recipe story

Peanut sweets — a dough filled with peanuts and coated in chocolate. An inventive and delicious recipe using readily available ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 125 g butter at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 cups sifted flour (more if needed depending on the flour type)

  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • A pinch of salt
  • Filling:
  • 1 cup peanuts

Method

  1. Peel the peanuts and pulse them in a food processor, then spread them on a baking tray and roast in the oven until browned; set aside to cool.
  2. Add the condensed milk to the peanuts and mix.
  3. In another bowl, start the dough: cream the butter with the powdered sugar, then add the oil and the egg and mix.
  4. Add the cornstarch, a pinch of salt and the vanilla, then gradually add the flour and bring the dough together with your fingertips without kneading.
  5. Add the cocoa powder and bring the dough together. Chill it in the refrigerator to rest for 15 minutes.

  6. After 15 minutes, place it on the work surface and divide it into two portions.

  7. Roll out one portion of dough on parchment paper, then place another sheet of parchment on top and roll the dough out.
  8. Remove the top parchment, and cut the dough into circles.
  9. Place each circle in your hand, fill it with the peanut filling prepared earlier, close it, then shape it by rolling to form the appearance shown in the photo.
  10. Place the pieces on the work surface, roll them and press the center so they take the shape of a peanut.
  11. Arrange the pieces on parchment paper on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven for about 10 minutes until done.
    Timers: 10 min
  12. Let them cool; in the meantime melt a chocolate bar in a double boiler with a can of qaimar (clotted cream) and mix.
  13. When the chocolate mixture cools, dip the peanut sweets into it, place them on parchment paper on a tray, and refrigerate to set the chocolate.
