Bulgur with Chicken
A light, flavorful bulgur-with-chicken dish — similar to rice in texture — served nicely with salad or yogurt.

Ingredients

- chicken
- 1 large onion
- 2 ripe tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- a pinch of seven-spice blend (or baharat)
- a small pinch of cinnamon
- salt
- hot pepper (to taste)
- coarse bulgur
- 1 can whole chickpeas
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Boil the chicken with aromatics after skimming off any foam.
- Remove the bones and set the chicken aside.
- Sauté the finely chopped onion in a little oil until it softens, then add the tomatoes cut into small cubes and sauté until they soften.
- Add tomato sauce with the spices and salt, and stir.
- Add the coarse bulgur after washing and draining it, cover it with water, and add the cooked chickpeas and pre-cooked chicken. Usually 1 cup of coarse bulgur needs 1 to 1¼ cups of water.
- Reduce the heat after boiling, cover the pot, and let the bulgur with chicken cook.
- Bulgur with chicken is very delicious served with salad and yogurt.
