Healthy Nutella Substitute

No need to buy Nutella anymore! With this tested homemade recipe, Nutella can be made right in your own kitchen with ease.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 2 cups raw hazelnuts, unskinned
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 100 g dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup pistachio oil

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and spread the hazelnuts on a baking tray so the kernels roast and the skins split, turning them occasionally for about 15 minutes.
    Timers: 15 min
  2. Peel the hazelnuts well after they cool, removing every trace of skin.
  3. Place the milk over low heat with the sugar and vanilla and stir until the sugar dissolves, then add the chopped chocolate bar and stir until the mixture is well blended; turn off the heat.
  4. Put the hazelnuts in the food processor and run it on high then medium speed for 10 minutes until the mixture becomes paste-like.

  5. Add the melted chocolate, pistachio butter and cocoa and process again for 5 minutes, then begin adding pistachio oil gradually and beat until you have a creamy texture.

  6. Spoon the chocolate into a glass jar and keep it refrigerated.
