English Fruit Cake
The English fruit cake is a classic bake that arrived to our region from English cuisine; it’s flavorful, easy to make, and loved by both adults and kids.
Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3 eggs
- 100 g butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Pinch of salt
- 3 tablespoons strawberry jam
- Dried fruits as desired
- Nuts as desired
Method

- First separate the egg whites from the yolks and whip the whites alone, then set them aside.
- Beat the butter and sugar well, then begin adding the egg yolks gradually with the vanilla and continue beating. Add the milk gradually and slowly while continuing to beat.
- Fold the whipped egg whites into the mixture using a wooden spoon from bottom to top. Add the sifted flour mixed with the baking powder and salt, and continue mixing.
- Pour part of the batter into the pan or loaf tin greased with oil and suitable for an English cake.
- Spread strawberry jam over the first layer of batter. Pour the remaining batter over it and top the pan with nuts and dried fruit.
- Bake the English cake in a preheated oven at 150°C for about 45 minutes.Timers: 45 min
