Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 7 tablespoons coarse semolina
- 14 tablespoons powdered milk
- 6 cups water
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 1 coffee cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon rose water
- finely ground biscuits (crushed cookies)
- sugar syrup (qatir or shira) for serving
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Dissolve the semolina, powdered milk, and sugar in the water.
- Place the mixture in a pot over medium heat and stir until it boils.
- Add the butter and stir.
- Let the semolina dessert simmer on low heat for only five minutes after boiling.
- Add 1 teaspoon rose water, stir, then remove the pot from the heat.
- Pour the semolina mixture into a large oven-safe glass dish or a baking tray and spread the crushed biscuits over the surface.
- Put the glass dish or tray into the oven to brown the surface, i.e., the biscuit topping.
- Let it cool, then refrigerate it for at least two hours before serving.
- Drizzle sugar syrup (qatir or shira) over it when serving.
