Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups fine semolina (semolina flour)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup plain yogurt (labneh-style or soured milk)
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 200 g melted butter
- 1 tsp baking powder
- A pinch of vanilla
- 2 tbsp orange blossom water (mā' al-zaher)
- 1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp milk for brushing the surface

Method

- In a bowl, combine the flour and semolina. Separately dissolve the sugar in the yogurt, then pour it over the flour and semolina. Add the remaining ingredients and knead well.
- Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.Timers: 10 min
- Shape the dough as desired — hearts are one option. Cut small rounds of dough, roll each into a short rope with your hands, then curl the ends together to form a circle. Press the bottom (heel) gently to form a heart shape.
- Place the shaped pieces on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and brush the tops with the egg-and-milk mixture.
- Bake the biscuits for about 2 minutes or a little longer until the bottoms begin to brown, then brown the tops.Timers: 2 min
