Pakistani vermicelli kunafa — a distinctive and very delicious dessert!

Ingredients:

1 cup plain yogurt

1 cup vegetable oil

1 cup sugar

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup desiccated coconut

3 eggs

1 can sweetened condensed milk

3 tbsp powdered milk

3 pieces cream cheese

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking powder

1 packet ready-made Pakistani vermicelli

Shelled pistachios for garnish

Method:

Place the yogurt, oil, eggs, vanilla, cream cheese and sugar in a blender.

Blend the ingredients for three minutes.

Pour the mixture into a bowl and add the remaining ingredients.

Add the flour, desiccated coconut and baking powder and stir in one direction until you have a smooth batter.

Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and sprinkle the vermicelli over the top.

Bake the Pakistani vermicelli kunafa in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 40 minutes.

When baked and still hot, pour the sweetened condensed milk over the kunafa so it soaks in.

Cut to size as desired and serve immediately.
