Wash the rice and soak it in water for at least two hours. Drain the rice, then place it in a pot on the stove with water, using 2 cups of water for each cup of rice. Stir the rice from time to time until it is cooked. When the rice is cooked, let it cool, then put it with its water in an electric blender and grind it until you obtain a sticky mixture. Return it to the pot and add mahlab and sugar, and leave it over low heat for about a quarter of an hour, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
