Oven-roasted chicken... simply delicious. Follow this method to get the best chicken at home.
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, or chicken pieces
- 1 tsp salt, or to taste
- 1 tsp seven-spice blend (sab' baharat)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp chicken seasoning
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup vinegar (for washing)
- 1 lemon
- Fresh or dried thyme sprigs
- Wash the chicken with 1 cup of vinegar: rub it well, then rinse with water.
- After drying the outside with paper towels, spread softened room-temperature butter under the skin, especially over the breast.
Method
- Mix all the spices together with the brown sugar, then rub the whole chicken or the chicken pieces with this spice-sugar mix on all sides. The sugar helps the chicken brown quickly and nicely.
- Cut the lemon in half and place it inside the chicken along with a sprig of thyme.
- Wrap the chicken in aluminum foil.
- Place it in a roasting pan and add 3 cups of water into the pan.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (about 350°F) for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.Timers: 60 min, 15 min
