2 cups flour 1/2 cup cornstarch 1 1/4 cups warm water 1 tablespoon yeast 1 tablespoon sugar 1 tablespoon oil A pinch of salt Syrup: 2 cups sugar 1 cup water 1 small teaspoon butter A squeeze of lemon

Preparation Method:

Mix all the ingredients for the awameh batter, making sure the water is warm, then leave the batter to rise. Heat the oil, then begin shaping the awameh by pouring it directly into the oil using a piping bag, spoon, or a jug. Fry the awameh balls for a partial fry and keep them white in color. Remove them from the oil and drain. Fry them a second time until they are golden. Prepare the syrup in advance and let it cool. Remove the awameh from the oil for the second time and place them in the syrup. Lift the awameh out of the syrup and transfer to a sieve, then serve after letting the excess syrup drain off.
