Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon oil
- A pinch of salt
- Syrup:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 small teaspoon butter
- A squeeze of lemon

Method
- Mix all the ingredients for the awameh batter, making sure the water is warm, then leave the batter to rise.
- Heat the oil, then begin shaping the awameh by pouring it directly into the oil using a piping bag, spoon, or a jug.
- Fry the awameh balls for a partial fry and keep them white in color.
- Remove them from the oil and drain.
- Fry them a second time until they are golden.
- Prepare the syrup in advance and let it cool.
- Remove the awameh from the oil for the second time and place them in the syrup.
- Lift the awameh out of the syrup and transfer to a sieve, then serve after letting the excess syrup drain off.
