Recipe story

Wheat dessert with milk is an easy homemade recipe that’s so delicious! It’s very simple and nourishing, but it does take some time to prepare. What could be better than a sweet made with wheat, milk, and raw nuts!

Ingredients

  • 3 kilos peeled wheat, soaked overnight in clean water
  • 12 liters milk (or dissolved powdered milk)
  • Sugar, to taste (as a guide, each cup of milk needs 1 tablespoon sugar, and you can add more if you prefer it sweeter)
  • Rose water and orange blossom water - 3 tablespoons of each
  • For decoration:
  • Desiccated coconut
  • Ground pistachios
  • Raisins
  • Or as desired
  • Note: You can make a smaller quantity and adjust the amounts according to the amount of wheat you want
  • This special dessert is from the friend and cook of the Shou Tabkhin Today website:

Method

  1. Soak the wheat in clean water for a full night
  2. The next day, place it with the water in a pot on the stove
  3. When the wheat is well cooked and you notice the water level has become low and is roughly level with the wheat (not higher), add the milk and sugar and let them boil together
  4. When the liquid thickens and becomes the consistency of yogurt, add a little rose water and orange blossom water, stir, and remove the pot from the heat
  5. Pour the wheat dessert with milk into serving dishes, cups, or containers and leave it to cool at room temperature
  6. When it has cooled well, garnish as desired and serve; it can be stored in the refrigerator until serving

  8. Also on the left: here is the macaron dessert
