Ingredients

  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 300 g ground beef
  • Pine nuts - optional
  • 1 1/2 kg ripe red tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon seven-spice blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sweet spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Method

  1. Sauté the onion in a little oil until softened.
  2. Add the ground beef and stir until cooked through.
  3. Add the pine nuts (optional) over the meat and stir briefly.
  4. Peel the tomatoes beforehand and cut them into small cubes, then add them over the meat. Add the tomato paste, salt, and spices, and stir.
  5. Cover the pot and leave the tomato stew for about 20 minutes over medium heat until the tomatoes are cooked and the sauce thickens.

  6. Serve the stew alongside fluffy rice with vermicelli.
