Special Date Biscuits

Date biscuits made with an easy, foolproof step-by-step recipe. Check out the details now and serve them to guests and family — perfect for Eid hospitality!

Homemade date biscuits that turn out perfectly every time — especially delicious with a cup of tea or coffee.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 and 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon milk powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 medium teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons liquid milk
  • Ground dates + a little cinnamon, or any preferred spice to pair with the dates
  • Also from Umm Taha, here is Oat Cookies

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. In the electric mixer, put the eggs, vanilla, sugar and oil and beat them well
  2. In another bowl, add the flour, baking powder, milk powder and cornstarch and mix well
  3. Pour the oil over the dry ingredients and mix with a spoon, then add the liquid milk and knead until a soft dough forms
  4. Let it rest in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes
    Timers: 15 min
  5. Sprinkle the cinnamon over the dates and knead them well
  6. After the resting time, begin shaping the date biscuits by taking a piece of dough, flattening it on the table surface, placing a date shaped like a finger on top, and wrap the dough around the date so it wraps only once around the filling
  7. Make lengthwise fork marks without cutting through the dough—just for appearance—and cut them into pieces of the desired size
  8. Place the pieces on a tray lined with parchment paper or greased with oil
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C for about 20 minutes, then brown them on top
    Timers: 20 min
  10. Serve the date biscuits at room temperature
  11. Also from Umm Taha, here are the oatmeal cookies
